Crust
Blend:
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Cut in:
1/2 cup butter
Add:
¼ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
Mix to form a soft dough, and press into 9” tart pan or springform pan. I used a springform; I really don't know how a tart pan would be.
5 cups Granny Smith apples (about 3 large), peeled and sliced
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg
¼ tsp. salt
Mix well and pour on top of unbaked crust.
Blend:
¾ cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
Cut in:
1/3 cup butter
Spread crumbs evenly over apples. Bake tart at 400 F for 40 minutes.
½ cup sugar
1/4 cup water
3 Tbsp. butter
¼ cup whole milk or heavy cream
